1. The free forging
A method of machining a blank with a simple universal tool, or a forging machine that directly applies an external force between the upper and lower anvil iron of the forging equipment to deform the blank to obtain the required geometry and internal quality of the forging.
Forgings produced by free forging method are called free forgings.
Free forging is mainly the forging of small batch production, using forging hammer, hydraulic press and other forging equipment to shape the blank to obtain qualified forging.
The basic processes of free forging include upsetting, drawing, punching, cutting, bending, twisting, shifting and forging.
Free forging takes the form of hot forging.

2. Die forging
Die forging is divided into open die forging and closed die forging.
A metal blank is formed by compression deformation in a forging die bore with a certain shape.
Die forging can be divided into hot die forging, warm forging and cold forging.
Warm forging and cold forging are the future development direction of die forging and also represent the level of forging technology.
For example, cargo hooks, lifting rings, rotating rings, double rings, American pattern forgings, strong rings, etc.
3. The grinding ring
Grinding ring is used to produce ring parts of different diameters through special equipment grinding ring machine.
4. Special forging
Special forging methods include roller forging, cross wedge rolling, radial forging, liquid die forging, etc.
For example, roller forging can be used as an effective preforming process, which greatly reduces the subsequent forming pressure.
Cross wedge rolling can produce steel ball, transmission shaft and other parts;
Radial forging can produce large gun barrel, step shaft and other forgings.
