Forgings need to be consistent for each piece, without any porosity, inclusions or other imperfections. This method produces components that have a high ratio of strength to weight.
These components are often used in aircraft structures. The advantages of forgings are the length of the extension, the cross-section that can be shrunk, the length of the contraction, the cross-section that can be stretched, the length of the variable, the cross-section that can be changed. Types of forgings are: free forging/hand forging, red/precision forging, top forging, roll forging and die forging.
